“Research is essential to generate innovative knowledge and evidence-based interventions to improve people’s lives. The exponential increase in scientific knowledge has created a demand for effective systems that make use of innovative technology and novel approaches to enable wider use and popularization. Research as a social activity should result in better health and better quality of life for its target beneficiaries and the general population. Research with human participants should be conducted responsibly with proper attribution of duties and moral obligations among various stakeholders including the sponsor, the investigator, the research ethics committee, the institution, regulators, and public health authorities.


The conference aims to foster dialogue and collaboration among researchers, ethicists, and policymakers to promote ethical practices in research. By providing a platform for the exchange of ideas, the conference seeks to enhance the integrity and impact of research through adherence to ethical standards and guidelines. This conference underscores the importance of ethical considerations in research design, implementation, and dissemination. It highlights the role of ethical guidelines in protecting human subjects, promoting scientific soundness, and maximizing the societal benefits of research. Main Agendas and Attractions

Last year’s conference conducted at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia set a high standard, and this year’s event aims to set a new benchmark with comprehensive programs and diverse participation. Inaugural Ceremony

The event will kick off with speeches from NHRC representatives and members of Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population, setting the stage for the conference’s objectives and expected outcomes

Abstract Presentations

Researchers will present selected abstracts on health research and ethics, showcasing innovative studies and findings. This segment aims to highlight significant advancements and encourage discussions on improving research practices.

Panel Discussion

Engage with subject matter experts through dynamic panel discussions on various topics related to ethical research. These sessions will provide insights into current challenges and future directions in health research ethics.

Workshop & Training

Participate in hands-on workshops and training sessions designed to enhance skills and knowledge in ethical research practices. These
interactive sessions will cover topics such as SOP implementation, ethical review procedures, and effective communication among ethics committees.

Cultural Program

Experience Nepal’s rich cultural heritage through performances of local music and dance. The cultural program, including a gala dinner, will offer a unique opportunity to network with peers in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.

FERCAP AGM

Following the main conference, the FERCAP General Assembly will be held on November 27, providing a platform for members to discuss
organizational matters and future initiatives.

The NHRC oversees health research activities across Nepal and operates an Ethical Review Board (ERB) in collaboration with various Institutional Review Committee (IRCs) throughout the country.

“FERCAP was established in Bangkok, Thailand, on January 12, 2000, by a group of bioethicists and medical experts dedicated to improving the ethical review of behavioral and biomedical research in Asia and the Western Pacific. FERCAP aims to foster communication among ethics committees, organize international meetings, assist with implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and facilitate training and education for health research stakeholders.
